NABU Hessen – for people and nature in our state
Protect nature. Preserve biodiversity. Secure the future.
NABU Hessen – Naturschutzbund Deutschland, Landesverband Hessen
NABU Hessen is part of the nationwide Naturschutzbund Deutschland (Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union) and has been working for decades to protect species, habitats and natural resources in the state of Hesse. With numerous district and local groups, the association is active right across the state and deeply rooted in the region.
Its work focuses on protecting endangered animal and plant species, safeguarding valuable habitats and campaigning for nature-friendly land use. Whether it's protecting waters, birds or insects or developing woodland, NABU Hessen combines hands-on conservation with expert knowledge and political advocacy.
Alongside practical projects and habitat management work, the association is involved in environmental education and public outreach. The aim is to raise awareness of nature and climate protection and to encourage sustainable choices in everyday life.
As a recognised point of contact for policymakers, public authorities and society, NABU Hessen contributes science-based positions to decision-making and campaigns for a sustainable environmental policy.
