Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Klassische Akupunktur und Traditionelle Chinesische Medizin e. V. (AGTCM e. V.), the Working Group for Classical Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, is one of the leading professional and specialist associations for Chinese medicine in the German-speaking world. It brings together therapists from a range of health professions who practise acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, tuina, qigong or other methods of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), or who are involved in research and teaching in the field.
As a nationwide specialist association, the AGTCM champions high quality standards in training and professional practice. It represents the professional, specialist and economic interests of its members, promotes sound, evidence-based TCM training and works for the responsible integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine into the German healthcare system. In doing so, it stands for professionalism, transparency and a clear line between qualified practice and unprofessional offerings.
The core services of the AGTCM include specialist advice, support on professional policy, quality-assured further training and extensive networking opportunities for therapists. As the operator of its own TCM colleges and training programmes, it ensures a high standard of education and helps patients find qualified practitioners.
Through specialist conferences, publications and public events, the AGTCM actively shares knowledge about Chinese medicine and has established itself as an expert point of contact for policymakers, institutions and the media. Its work raises the profile of TCM in the health policy debate and encourages professional exchange within the community.
